About

Hello, I’m Dr. Nancy V Brown Willis. I’m a counselor, consultant, life coach, author, speaker, radio host, mental health and suicide prevention advocate.

I’m a survivor of child sexual abuse, a suicide survivor and a suicide loss survivor. I lost my sister to suicide in 2020, during the pandemic, 3 days after Thanksgiving. My trauma impacted my adolescent and teen years leading me in the Foster care system, ultimately I became a teen mom and dropped out of school in the 8th grade.

With hard work and dedication I worked on my own mental health recovery, I’m finishing my Christian Counseling PhD, received a Doctoral Honorary degree for Christian Leadership and a Doctoral Honorary Degree for Philosophy in Humanitarianism. I have also received the highest honor of receiving the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023. I’m currently a student at Spelman College pursuing leadership training and I also attend Georgia State University as a senior, working on my Psychology degree. I’ve been a certified Holistic Christian Life Coach since 2017. Im also CPS-Mental Health, CPS-Youth, CPS-Parent, Crisis Intervention Youth, trained in Equine therapy and have gained numerous awards and certifications.

I enjoy helping people through community outreach, volunteering and by providing coaching and counseling services. I volunteer with The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and do their Healing conversations, I’m a Board of Directors and teacher for NAMI. I sit on the advisory board of the Juvenile Justice system and I’m an Ambassador for GA NAASCA and host a radio show called Stop Child Abuse Now. I volunteer in the prison system working with Men, Women and Children and a few other organizations.

My heart feels full, as I pour in the lives of the people I serve. Knowing that I’m walking in my PURPOSE and that my pain and life obstacles help serve a greater PURPOSE.

I’m the author of My Costa Rican HummingBird Sings, Breaking The Bondage and Answering The Call. Founder of Brave Girls Rise Up. Our focus is helping women and girls heal from trauma and Rise back up. Providing advocacy, mental health wellness, trauma recovery programs, suicide prevention, educational trainings for students, parents and staff. We offer private sessions, group sessions, workbooks, resources and support.

Healing is a delicate journey, you need someone who truly cares, is empathetic and understands the recovery process to help you through yours,  hold you by the hand without judgement and to remind you that you are not alone! Education and personal lived experience really makes a difference. I have experienced high levels of trauma and today I have the honor of helping people through their trauma recovery process. You are not alone!

My personal experiences, self healing and heart for healing others lead me to start my podcast My HummingBird Sings where guest share testimonies, spiritual healing, education and stories of HOPE.

My Healing Sessions are flexible. You can choose to do group sessions, one on one sessions, in person or virtual.
